Hajun is very arrogant, often calling himself the most supreme being. After managing to slash out Buddha's eye, he showed a more unexpected side of him, which is his sadism and arrogance, making fun of Buddha once his attack landed. ![]() Old habits die hard.Despite his appearance, Hajun is shown to be quite calm, relaxed and eager, being humble yet confident about his power, and the abilities of others as shown when he was surprised after Buddha blocked his first attack. ![]() This element of the battle carries the narrative stakes until a big third-act twist completely upends the story in favor of another exchange of power levels. Framing Buddha as the spiritual guide to Zerofuku, a deity defined by his adolescent angst, is a very clever use of the character. These figures are often the most beloved of their casts, partially because of their overwhelming power but also because of their lack of annoying teenage traits. Characters like Kakashi from Naruto and Kishibe from Chainsaw Man fit neatly into the same archetype. Instead, both fit into a larger trend of unstoppable mentor figures in the genre. Record of Ragnarok began publication before Jujutsu Kaisen, but it's unlikely that either mangaka took inspiration from the other. Their commonalities are so obvious and numerous that some will call Buddha a direct ripoff of Gojo. Buddha has several striking similarities with another immensely popular anime character, Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Zerofuku isn't the best fight in the show so far, but it isn't the worst. It's a clear moral argument that takes some engaging twists and turns.īuddha vs. Zerofuku is motivated by jealousy and vengeance. Buddha is a moral paragon, a living embodiment of freedom and kindness. When Zerofuku sees how happy Buddha's followers are, he goes mad with envy. On the other hand, Buddha taught his subjects to love themselves and give up their worldly chains. Zerofuku suffered the agony of those he helped, but he never felt appreciated for the misery he endured. Zerofuku was a minor deity who became revered for his ability to pull pain from his subjects. The structure is identical to the previous five competitions, but this bout features opponents who know each other. The fight routinely takes time out to explore the backstory of both competitors. ![]() The battle between Buddha and Zerofuku is the entirety of this part of the season.
